Flat Roofing Across the North East
Flat roofing is our priority service. Across Tyne & Wear, Northumberland and County Durham we install fibre glass (GRP), EPDM rubber, cold-applied liquid systems and modern felt — sized for everything from a single garage to commercial decks over 500 m².
- GRP fibre glass — 25+ year design life, seamless finish
- EPDM rubber — single-piece membranes for garage and extension roofs
- Liquid roofing — cold-applied for complex shapes and upstands
- Full strip and re-deck where the substrate has failed
- Manufacturer-backed materials, not own-brand
- Tidy site, photo-documented handover
What 'North East' means for flat roof spec
Coastal jobs in Sunderland, South Shields, Whitley Bay and Blyth need salt-resistant trims — we default to aluminium drip trims and stainless fixings near the seafront, not mild steel. Inland (Washington, Chester-le-Street, Houghton-le-Spring) the bigger enemy is ponding from blocked outlets through autumn leaf-fall, so we plan falls and outlets accordingly.
For commercial flat decks across the region (industrial units in Team Valley, retail roofs in city centres, warehouse roofs near the A19) liquid and single-ply usually win on access and downtime.
Flat roofing (North East) FAQs
Which flat roof system lasts longest in the North East climate?+
GRP fibre glass and quality EPDM rubber both reach 25+ years when installed properly. For salt-exposed coastal locations we recommend stainless trims regardless of the membrane chosen.
Can you recoat instead of stripping?+
Sometimes — if the substrate is dry, sound and the falls are correct, a liquid recoat is a fraction of the cost of a strip. We'll only recommend it if it's actually appropriate.
Do you do commercial flat roofs?+
Yes — most of our commercial work is flat. Single-ply, GRP and liquid systems on retail units, industrial buildings and managed housing stock.
