Buyer's guide
Felt vs GRP Flat Roofing
If you're choosing between a re-felt and a GRP installation, the up-front cost difference closes fast against the lifetime cost. Felt at 15 years vs GRP at 25–30: usually GRP is the better long-term answer.
- Felt: cheaper, 10–20 year life, seams fail first
- GRP: dearer, 25+ year life, no seams
- Felt suited to short-term landlord fixes
- GRP suited to owner-occupier long-term
- Substrate prep is the same either way
How we'd specify on your project
Every comparison depends on the existing structure, the surrounding properties, and how long you'll hold the building. We'll tell you on the survey, in writing, which we'd specify and why.
