Buyer's guide
Clay vs Concrete Tile Roofs
Clay tiles age better, hold colour, and last longer — but cost more up front and weigh slightly less per m². Concrete tiles come in more profiles, take a coating treatment, and cost less. The roof structure tells us which to specify.
- Clay: 60–80 year life, no colour fade
- Concrete: 40–60 year life, surface treatment available
- Clay 15–20% pricier on materials
- Concrete heavier per tile on average
- Both available in plain, pantile and interlocking profiles
How we'd specify on your project
Every comparison depends on the existing structure, the surrounding properties, and how long you'll hold the building. We'll tell you on the survey, in writing, which we'd specify and why.

Which do you install most often?+
We install both. The choice is driven by the project, not by what's easiest for us.
