Pitched Roofing FAQs
How long does a new slate or tile roof last?+
A natural slate roof can last 80–100+ years; man-made slates and concrete tiles typically last 50+ years when correctly installed and maintained.
Do I need a full re-roof or just repairs?+
If multiple slates are slipping, the felt has perished or there's repeated leaking, a full re-roof is usually the most cost-effective solution. We'll give honest advice after a free inspection.
What's the difference between dry ridge and wet ridge?+
Dry ridge uses mechanical clamps and no mortar, so it's more weatherproof and low-maintenance. Wet ridge is the traditional mortar-bedded method. Both are available.
Do you handle chimneys and leadwork as part of a re-roof?+
Yes — chimney pointing, lead flashings, valleys and ridge work are all done in-house as part of a full pitched roof project.
